Since the past few weeks, if not months, I spared some of my site to work on Rémino. The site's backend and look haven't been update since the past two or three years, so I thought it was due.
I'm just starting to roll out some changes now. Some of those changes include the following:
- No more advertisement.
- Site is now running on Drupal 5.
- Design has been redone. The fonts are now bigger and the content takes more space now, making it easier to read.
- Menus have been simplified. When checking my statistics, most people are just reading the journal. Only the items "Journal," "Topics," and "Contact" appear now. A fourth one, "Album," will come later. You may want to try "Topics" to find the pages previously linked in the menus. The Search feature also works better than before, so if you need help finding something, I suggest you give it a try.
- Multilingual content is now seperate. No more mix of Japanese and French in the English journal. If you want to see the French and Japanese entries, click on the new language links in the top-right corner. On the front page's sidebar, there are also listings of recent English, French, and Japanese entries.
- A lot of useless junk in the RSS feed has also been cleared up.
- Links to recent content on some of my other Web sites are now available at the bottom of every page.
- Better spam prevention with anti-spam services and challenge questions for user registration and comments.
- New registrations no longer need to be approved by me.
- Users may now customise their display name and avatar, both of which will be displayed in the top-right corner of every page when they log in.
There are more changes I wish to bring to Rémino by the end of year, including upgrading to Drupal 6, or possibly Drupal 7.
All accounts on the site not being accessed since more than 2 years ago have been deleted. There were dozens of spammers who tried to registered on the site and the list of users was getting clutered. The only users remaining are: yukigami, mrtouds, xmarilyn, kyoko, armand, anatole, choppers, miket, and NoMez.
This is it more. More to come in summer. Stay tuned!
