Train derailed

2007-01-05

Fuji TV reports a CN train car derailed yesterday in the south-west region of Canada, trapping two employees inside. It may have been caused by a landslide.

I think that's what the headline said, anyway. It's funny that I heard about that nowhere in the Canadian media. I didn't notice that on CBC or on Google News. Why am I informed by a Japanese TV station about news from my own country? Also, I found funny the way Canada seems to be smaller to the Japanese. The "south-west region" could be anywhere from BC to Alberta, and maybe Saskatchewan. But, I guess mentioning the exact location would confuse them more.

Edit: I found an article about the derailment at Calgary Sun's Web site. It happened at the north-east of BC, in Lytton. I guess the entire province is technically the most "south-west" of Canada, so I guess that's why the Japanese call it the "south-west" region.

Canada Day

2006-07-10

A bit more than a week ago, it was Canada Day, celebrating the country's 139th anniversary. My face got red from the sun and I enjoyed seeing the fireworks.

But now I need to fight with new video editing software so I can post a video of the fireworks... You'll have to wait, but they're worth it.
